Indian English women fiction has becoming as popular as men fiction. Women are no less in creative writing than men. There are hundreds of poets, playwrights, novelists and journalists in the field of Indian English writing.
Shashi Deshpande, Kamala Markandaya, Gita Mehta, and Anita Desai are of the older generation of women novelists and short story writers. Shobha De, a highly educated model and journalist, entered the field of Indian English fiction and wrote some fine novels which attracted thousands of readers all over the country. She created a wave of new kind of women writing unlike any other woman writer.
The present book is full length critical study of her selected novels and it is very fruitful to study her novels from the feministic point of view. The author has done his best in bringing out the essence of the writer, Shobha De. I hope that the book shall be beneficial for the teachers and students of literature in our country.
